About Coenraad van de Kar

Coenraad van de Kar was a son of David van de Kar and Heintje Schraal, who both have passed away already before the war. Coenraad married on 13 December 1911 in Amsterdam to Marianne Zak, a daughter of Machiel Zak and Judith Olivier.
Coenraad was born in a family with eleven children, of whom two have died before the war. However his siblings 501950|Marianne)), Salomon, Clara, Gompert, Grietje, Sara, Philip and Levie have been killed all during the Holocaust.

Coenraad van de Kar and Marianne Zak had two children, who both were married. Together with their families they survived the war. They went into hiding in the Amstel Brewery at the Mauritskade in Amsterdam, where they stayed for two years. About 25 persons lived in hiding at this address.
