David Aletrino was a son of Abraham Aletrino and Saartje Ploeg.
He was a diamond polisher by profession. In 1903 he married Anna Querido in Weesp. The couple had two children: Abraham (a celebrated choir conductor; he died in 1929) and Jacques.
Previous to WW I David Aletrino joined the Landstorm, a militairy unit of volunteers and veterans.
