Schoontje Brilleman was a daughter of Joseph Brilleman and Branca Broekman. She had six other siblings: Naatje, Grietje, Levie, Gerrit (deceased in 1934), Hartog and Mietje.
Schoontje married in Amsterdam on 29 August 1907 to Juda Root, son of Abraham Root and Helena Nordheim. The couple had three children: Abraham, Marianne and Louis.
