Jozef Poons was a son of Meijer Poons and Flora Noord. He married 29 January 1936 in Amsterdam to Marianne Abram, a daughter of Barend Abram and Lena de Zwarte. Together they had a daughter Flora.
Jozef had another sister Sara who also did not survive the Holocaust.
