Duifje Blom was a daughter of Salomon Blom and Hendrika Kosman, who had a family with ten children: Duifje herself, Hartog, Elisabeth, Israel, Nathan, Rachel, Samuel, Barend, Machiel and Greta, who survived the Holocaust.
Duifje married in Amsterdam on 16 January 1901 to Salomon Schelvis, age 18, son of Rebecca Schelvis.
