Meijer Swaab was a son of Nathan Swaab and Saartje Koord. He married Raatje Gerritse in Amsterdam on 12 June 1889, a daughter of Izak Tobias Gerritse and Judith Jacob Korper.
The couple had eight children, of whom one baby daughter already died, only 1 1/2 year old. Two sons and one daughter have survived the war but the other four children: Sara, Catharina, Debora and Mietje have been killed during the Holocaust.
The spouse of Meijer Swaab, Raatje Gerritse passed away already before the Second World War and has been interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen on 17 October 1939.
