According to their marriage certificate (31 May 1917) Herman de Jong was the son of Benjamin de Jong and Grietje Boas. He was married to Dora Wessel, the daughter of Salomon Wessel and Judith Speelman. Both fathers and the groom were registered as diamond workers.
