About Leon Fierlier

Leon Fierlier was a son of Barend Fierlier and Aaltje Swaab. He had a twin brother, Nico and had also two  sisters, who have survived the Holocaust. His father passed away before the war but his mother Aaltje and his twinbrother Nico have been killed in the Shoah.

Leon Fierlier had a number of jobs; he was a sales representative, salesman in a departmentstore, demonstrator, cook and since 22 January 1942 he worked as a domestic servant.

Leon married 1 May 1940 in Amsterdam Elise Philips van Buren, a daughter of Frederik Philips van Buren and Nanny Herz. Elise was previously married but divorced in March 1939. Leon and Elise lived in in the family of Elise's parents at Zandstraat 8 II in Amsterdam, where on 30 October 1941 their daughter Nanny was born.

Leon Fierlier was sent to Auschwitz on 21 July 1942 and lost his life there eventually on 30 September 1942. His wife Elise and his little daughter Nanny have been deported from transit camp Westerbork to Auschwitz at the same date in July, but have been killed there immediately upon arrival on 23 July 1942.
