About Hugo Meijers

Hugo Meijers was a student at the Hogere Textielschool (institute for textile studies) in Enschede. After the summer holiday of 1941, Jewish students were barred from the school.

In September 1942 the Enschede police commissioner requested that Hugo Meijers, residing in Enschede, be located, detained and brought to trial. He was suspected of having changed his place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. Hugo Meijer was caught and killed in Sobibor.

This person is mentioned in a CABR document of the Dutch Nationaal Archief. The CABR contains detailed information concerning this person’s arrest, inv. nr CABR 75353 + 76990

In the hall of the former Hogere Textielschool on the Ariënsplein a plaque lists the names of students, teachers and former students who did not survive the war. Hugo Meijers is listed here.
