Rebecca Canes was a daughter of Joseph Canes) and Clara Viskoper. Rebecca married Salomon Schellevis on 28 October 1903 in Amsterdam. He passed away in 1935. The couple had at seven children: Hartog, Joseph, Judic, Jacques and two children who have survived the war.
Rebecca Canes had nine siblings, of whom three little brothers have died at a very young age. The others, like she self, Mietje, Mozes, Jansje, Jesaija, Heintje and Betsij, have been killed during the Holocaust.
