Asser Soesman was a son of Wolf Soesman and Judik Sterner. He married 4 March 1914 in Rotterdam to Helena Hijman, a daughter of Maurits Hijman and Sara van Gelder. On 2 January 1915 their son Willem Julius was born in Nieuw Helvoet, who was killed in Auschwitz. Asser's wife Helena Hijman died in Den Haag in 1937 and Asser himself passed away Rotterdam on 23 September 1940 and from the funeral records at the Jewish cemetery in Rotterdam reveal that Asser Soesman was buried there.
