Juljus Cohen married a non-Jewish woman in 1919. The couple had two children. They initially lived in Leeuwarden and in 1938 they moved to Uithuizen, where Juljus became tax collector. The family Cohen lived at B51 Oosterstationsstraat in Uithuizen.
Juljus, despite having a mixed marriage, went into hiding. He was arrested in his hiding place and taken to Westerbork. He made a failed attempt to escape and was executed on 25 September 1944 in punishment.
