About Hijmann Scholte

Hijman Scholte was a son of Joseph Scholte and Rebecca Gobitz. He married 18 June 1914 in Amsterdam Lena (Leentje) van Beem, a daugther of Hijman van Beem and Eva Aandagt. The couple had two children: Jonas and Joseph, who survived the war, however not his wife Judith Sluijzer.
Hijman Scholte resided in Antwerp with his family since May 1929. Up from September 1929 till April 1940 his address was Havrelei 14 in Deurne. His latest adress afterwards was Walvisstraat 21 in Antwerp.
Hijman Scholte was deported from Mechelen to Auschwitz with Convoy XIII on 10 October 1942 and immediately killed upon arrival there.
Hijman was born in a family with five children, of whom four of them have been killed during the Holocaust: Hijman self, Israel, Barend and Leentje.
