About Abraham Voorzanger

Abraham Voorzanger, born in 1920 in Rotterdam, was a son of Isaac Voorzanger and Jansje Park. He was one of the nine children in this family, of whom presumably two brothers and two sisters might have survived the war. The Voorzanger family stayed sometimes in Belgium, sometimes in Holland but resided lately at Bikschotelaan 159 at Berchem (province of Antwerp) which was their last known address. His brother Emanuel and sisters Selina, Esther and Elisabeth, as also his parents have been killed in the Shoah.

Abraham Voorzanger has been deported with Convoy XVI on 31 October 1942 from Mechelen to Auschwitz, which has arrived there on 3 November 1942. However it is not known where and when Abraham exactly has been killed and no official certificate of death has been made out, other than some notes in the Archive of the Municipality of Berchem that Abraham Voorzanger has died between 26 October 1942 and 1 June 1945 somewhere in the region of Auschwitz.

However, according to the Society of Individual Insurance Claims Shoah, one of the Sterbebücher of Auschwitz  mentioned the death of Abraham Voorzanger on 9 February 1943.
