About Manus Minco

Manus Minco (also spelled Menco and Menko) was married to Sibille Hedeman from Ootmarsum. They had five children, including Carel Hyman and Maurits.
In 1885 Manus Minco opened a thriving textile business for ladies' and menswear on the Denekampstraat on Ootmarsum, where he lived with his family. In 1896 the family moved to the Marktstraat, into the white building known as the Cremerhuis. In the period 1914-1917 the three eldest children left the home of their parents. Carel Hijman Minco became a tailor. In 1918 Manus Minco moved with his wife and two youngest sons (including Maurits) to 156 Grotestraat in Almelo, where he opened a textile business and tailor shop. When Manus Minco left the business, his son Maurits succeeded him.
Maurits thought his father Manus would be safe at the Roman Catholic Hospital. Unfortunately, he was removed from the hospital and deported to Sobibor.
