Sientje Barber was a daughter of Manus Luks and Flora van Velzen. She married 16 November 1932 in Amsterdam Willem Luks, a son of Machiel Luks and Klara Schellevis. The couple had no children.
Sientje Barber was born in a family of elven children; one brother died at young age and one sister survived the war. Her other siblings, Meijer, Judic, Elisabeth, Marianne, Sara, Salomon, Frederika and Isaac have been killed all during the Holocaust.
