Hugo Mendelsohn was the son of Jakob Mendelsohn and Therese Lange. he married Lilli Luise Schönfeld in Berlin in 1930. The couple got divorced in 1934. Hugo Mendelsohn then married Johanna Metz. She died in 1939.
After the German invasion of the Netherlands Hugo Mendelsohn, Lilli Luise Schönfeld and the two children, once again, moved together.
