About Alfred Philip Veerman

Alfred Philip Veerman, Esq., a lawyer, was married. He and his wife lived in Amsterdam. They did not have children. He was involved with the underground. On 9 March 1941 he was caught at Noordwijk while trying to escape to England. He was held at the Scheveningen prison and then deported to Auschwitz via Wuppertal-Elberfeld. His wife survived the war.

Alfred was a promising lawyer. In the beginning of the war he was an officer in the Dutch army. Together with his nephew Robbie Veerman he tried to escape to England in a boat. They were caught and imprisoned in the Oranjehotel in Scheveningen.
