Simon Mouwes was a son of David Mouwes and his first wife Betje van Praag, to whom he was married in Amsterdam in 1887 but who passed away in 1912. Simon married in Amsterdam on 16 January 1924 to Martha Barend, daughter of Leendert Barend and Saartje Plukker.
