Jacob Hessel Klein was a son of Calmer Klein and Rachel van Gelder.
He married Roosje Vos in 1914 in Coevorden. She died in 1926. Jacob Hessel later married Frederika Cozijn.

Jacob Hessel Klein was head of the food supply department of the Apeldoornse Bos, where he began working on 16 March 1925. He was a widower of Roosje Vos, and a merchant by trade.
