Biography

About Suze Groen and her husband Bernard Brandeis.

Suze Groen was a daughter of Mozes Groen and Rachel Leidensdorff. She lived with her parents and brother Jacob Meijer at Jan van Riebeekstraat 81 in Den Haag. Presumably in the spring of 1942 Suze married in Den Haag Bernard Brandeis, a son of Moritz Max Brandeis and his first wife Elisabeth Waas. Until her marriage, Suze lived at home with her parents. Since September 1935 her spouse lived at Vlierbesstraat 407 in Den Haag with his grandmother Elisabeth Brandeis-Elte. At the time of the registration by the Jewish Council in Den Haag, both their address was Christiaan Bruningstraat 10.

Bernard en Suze were deported from their last known address 31 March 1943 to concentration camp Vught. There they had to stay till 31 July, where after they were transferred from Vught to Westerbork and locked in in barrack 67. 6 July 1943 both Berard and Suze were deported from Westerbork to Sobibor and on arrival there on 9 July 1943 immediately killed.
