Samuel Bronkhorst was a son of Eliazer Bronkhorst, a shoe shopkeeper, and Sara Opdenberg. Samuel continued the shop of his father which was established on the P. Krugerlaan 36 from 1909 until 1923. From 1923 until 1936 it was established on the P. Krugerlaan 15 in The Hague.
