About Joseph van Raalte

Joseph van Raalte was married to a non-Jewish woman. In 1939 they had a child. Joseph van Raalte was involved with the Mesdaggroep, which provided people in hiding with ration cards. In August 1943, he was arrested for this activity and held at the prison in Scheveningen. In September 1943, Joseph van Raalte arrived at Vught concentration camp.

Joseph van Raalte was the son of Lodewijk Eduard Martinus van Raalte and Ada Sophia Rebecca Ellis van Raalte. After his death, an obituary appeared in the 15 November 1945 issue of Bijblad Industriële Eigendom. Joseph van Raalte is also mentioned in the Weinreb report (1976) by D. Giltay Veth and A.J. van der Leeuw.
