Benjamin Valk was the son of Jonas Valk and Gaaltje Levie. He was married to Bertha Wallage. They had a daughter Jetta Alida and a son Levie.

From the manuscript 'Beelden uit de nacht. Kampherinneringen' (Images from the night. Camp memories) of Elie Cohen comes the following fragment:

'Opa Valk had travelled with us to Vught. Halfway through the journey, he threw his housekey through the window and said: "Now those bastards will have to kick the door down". The only thing he had with him was a stick over his shoulder with a bag attached to it. It was the last I saw of him. He used to live at 6 Haddingestraatje or Kleine Haddingestraatje.' Benjamin Valk arrived in Vught on 9 April 1943.
