Herman Odewald was a son of Mozes Lazarus Odewald and Sina Frank. He married 10 November 1897 in Steenwijk to Eva de Lange, a daughter of Abraham de Lange nd Amalia van Gelder. The couple had a son Adolf who was killed in the Shoah. Another son has survived the war.
