Ricas de Haas was the son of Johannes de Haas and Gesina Liefman Muller. He got married in Geffen on June 7, 1915. His wife survived the war.
More than one story has survived his death. One of the stories tells how Ricas was shot at the Lage Egge. Another story remembers how he passed away while he was in hiding in Lage Egge, near Wierden. According to this story, he was buried in the garden of his hiding address in Wierden. Later he was reburied at the general cemetery in Wierden. After the war his remains were transferred once more and put to rest at the Jewish cemetery in Almelo.
