Maurits Wijzenbeek was a son of Izak Wijzenbeek and Betsij Berlijn. He married Adèle Schiefelbusch in 1904 in Arnhem. She died in 1935. They had a child. According to tradition Maurits Wijzenbeek was in doubt for a long time whether he should report for transport on Utrecht Central Trainstation or not, but in the end he thought it would be disloyal to his wife not to go.
