About Barend Koekkoek

Barend Koekkoek was married. He and his wife had a child and lived in Amsterdam. Barend Koekkoek was a presser. In the resistance he was involved with the Landelijke Organisatie voor Hulp aan Onderduikers (LO) (national organization to aid people in hiding) in the east and centre of Amsterdam. He arranged meeting venues. On 18 April 1944 he was arrested in Amsterdam and deported to Natzweiler via the convict prison at Scheveningen. Barend Koekkoek's wife survived the war.

Barend Koekkoek was deported on 18 October 1944 from Auschwitz to Stutthof and on 17 November 1944 from there to Hailfingen, an auxiliary camp of concentration camp Natzweiler-Struthof.
