Duifje (Ducie) Denneboom was a member of the hachsjara movement. From that background she worked in the household of the Lifschitz family in Groningen. When she did not get a travel permit anymore she moved back to her parental house in Leek. Her mother and two sisters went into hiding in Zeist. Ducie and her grandfather Hartog Denneboom remained in Leek. There are letters of Ducie, written to her family in hiding, preserved in the museum Het Joodse Schooltje in Leek. There are also pictures there. The mother and sisters of Duifje Denneboom survived the war in hiding.
