About Grietje Barnstein-Kooker

Grietje Kooker was a daughter of Jesaia Levie Kooker and Jetta Kroese. At the age of 23 years she married 8 July 1886 in Amsterdam Meijer Barnstein from Hoorn, aged 19, son of Hartog Barnstein and Betje Zeelander. Meijer however passed away on 25 September 1938 and was interred the 28th in the Jewish Cemetery at Muiderberg..

The couple had eleven children together: Hartog, Betje, Engeltje, Esther, Eva, Mina, and Maurits.
Jetta, who was married to Hartog Zwalf, was the only one of the children who has survived the Holocaust. Three children (Jacques, Jesaias and Jesaia), have died already at a very young age.

Grietje passed away in Amsterdam on 12 November 1940 and she too was interred in the Jewish cemetery of Muiderberg.
