About Mozes Gans

Mozes Gans, cattle trader, was married to Henderina Gans. The couple lived at B 25 Hoofdstraat in Niezijl. They had a son, Abraham Salij Gans, office clerk, and a daughter called Ellij Allegonda, a shorthand typist.

Mozes Gans died in 1940 in a car crash between Grijpskerk en Niezijl. On the public cemetery in Grijpskerk a section was reserved for jewish burials. Mozes Gans is the last person to be buried at this section of the cemetery.

On 13 March 1943, raid vehicles drove into Grijpskerk. Henderina Gans and her daughter Ellij Allegonda were rounded up and taken to Westerbork. Henderina Gans-Gans died in Westerbork, where she was cremated. The urn with her ash was added to the urn field in Diemen, row 1, no. 13.
