Mozes Canes was a son of Joseph Canes and Klaartje Viskoper. He married 4 August 1915 in Amsterdam to Aaltje Lootsteen, a daughter of Mozes Lootsteen and Katje Jas.
Mozes Canes had nine siblings, of whom three little brothers have died at a very young age. The others, like he self, Rebecca, Mietje, Jansje, Jesaija, Heintje and Betsij, have been killed during the Holocaust.
