Siegfried Salomon (Salo/Bobbel) Carlebach was a son of Moses Carlebach and Recha Cohn. He worked as a teacher in an orphanage in Driebergen. According to tradition he voluntarily went on transport to Auschwitz to protect the orphans.

According to the Sterbebücher of Auschwitz he died on 25 August 1942. It is possible this date is different from the official day of death as established after the war by the Department of Justice.
