Rachel Pampel was a daughter of Mozes Pampel and Saartje Digtmaker. She married 9 November 1888 in Amsterdam to Gerrit Witteboon, a son of Hijman Witteboon and Keetje Wittenburg. They had one daughter, Keetje, who was married 1 April 1942 to Meier Polak.
Rachel was born in a family with ten children. One baby brother and a baby sister have died at a very young age and her brother Abraham died in December 1941 in Amsterdam and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen. Her other sisters, namely Betje, Schoontje, Roosje, Klara, Esther and Eva have been killed during the Holocaust.
