About Samuel de Vries

Samuel de Vries, who was known as Sam, was a son of the theatre actor Louis de Vries. As a young man, he started his career with his father's theatre company. During World War I he toured the Netherlands East Indies.

Samuel de Vries acted with several theatre companies, including the Tooneelensemble Louis de Vries, Hollandsch Tooneel, Schouwtooneel, Nieuw Nederlandsch Tooneel, Vrije Produktie/Ad hoc Produktie, De Komedianten, Ensemble Bouber and Joodsch Kleinkunstensemble.
He also acted in the motion pictures “Klokslag Twaalf” (1936), “De man zonder hart” (1937) and “Boefje” (1939).
