Philip van Beetz was the son of Isaac van Beetz and Alida Hamburg. He was first married to Clara Willing. The couple had five children: Isaac (died at a young age), Maurits (died in 1934), Isaac, Alida and one child that may have survived the war. After the passing of Clara Willing in 1914, Philip van Beetz remarried 14 Auguat 1919 the widow of Abraham Barug, Rachel Maarsen, a daughter of Samuel Maarsen and Naatje Francke.
