Jansje Canes was a daughter of Joseph Canes and Klaartje Viskoper. She married 24 June 1914 in Amsterdam to Hartog Halberstadt, a son of Meijer Halberstadt and Hendrika van den Berg.
Jansje Canes had nine siblings, of whom three little brothers have died at a very young age. The others, like she self, Rebecca, Mietje, Mozes, Jesaija, Heintje and Betsij, have been killed during the Holocaust.
