About Flora Barber-van Velzen

Flora van Velzen was a daughter of Isaac van Velzen and Schoontje Grijsaart. She married 2 January 1901 in Amsterdam Manus Barber, a son of Meijer Barber and Judic Metz. The couple had eleven children, of whom one son died in childhood and one daughter (Roza) survived the Holocaust. (Roza's husband Emanuel Polak however, lost his life 2 May 1945 somewhere in the Shoah). The other children Meijer, Judic, Sientje, Elisabeth, Marianne, Sara, Salomon, Frederika and Isaac have been killed all during the Holocaust.
The marriage of Flora and Manus ended by divorce on 21 May 1937. Manus Barber passed away on 21 July 1937 and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen.

In April 1941, Het Joodsche Weekblad published two obituaries for Flora Barber-van Velzen.
