Barend Blom was a son of Salomon Blom and Hendrika Kosman, who had a family with ten children: Barend himself, Hartog, Elisabeth, Duifje, Nathan, Rachel, Samuel, Israel, Machiel and Greta, who survived the Holocaust.
Barend married 21 September 1921 in Amsterdam to Branka Sarlui, daughter of Salomon Sarlui and Fijtje Dagloonder. The couple had seven children: Salomon, Cosman, Nathan, Vrouwtje, Hendrika, Louis and Dora.
