Esther Polak was a daughter of Levie Polak and Grietje Slap. She was married to Benjamin Katwijk in Amsterdam on 7 March 1919 but since March 1935, Esther lived apart from her husband at other addresses: Esther and her three childrne lived finally at Reitzstraat 6 I and Benjamin Katwijk lived at Kerkstraat 354, both in Amsterdam.
Her other siblings, who also were killed during the Holocaust were Klaartje, Hijman, Rebecca, Abraham and Meijer.
