Several letters to a female school friend written by Josina Elize van Gelder between September 1941 and April 1943 have been preserved. She wrote the last of these letters at Vught concentration camp.

Josina Elize van Gelder was deported to Sobibor in June 1943 from Vught via Westerbork on the so-called children's transport. She was 13 when she died.
