Joseph Roe was a son of Barend Roe and Elisabeth Barber. He married 15 September 1926 in Amsterdam Jeannette Roselaar, a daughter of Marcus Roselaar and Sara Zak.
The couple had two children: Elisabeth and Barend.
Joseph had another brother Elkan who also has been killed during the Holocaust.
