Barend Waas was a son of Asser Leman Juda Waas and Rachel Schouten. He married in Amsterdam on 14 September 1898 to Schoontje Roe, daughter of Mozes Roe and Klaartje Cornalijnslijper. The couple had two children: Lehman and Klara.
