Betje Soesan was a daughter of Barend Soesan and Sophia Rodrigues Lopes. She married in Amsterdam on 16 November 1910 to Barend Soesen. With him she had a daughter Sophia in 1911. Betje divorced Barend Soesan on 27 February 1920. In 1922 she became mother again in Paris of a son named François.
