About Samuel Goudeketting

Samuel Goudeketting was a son of the fruiterer Aaron (Arie) Goudeketting and Judith Roeg. Beside his brother Levie he had a brother Alexander who still lived at home with his parents.
Samuel worked in the confection industry as a machine presser. In 1942 he married his cousin Hendrika (Henny) Goudeketting.The couple moved in with his eldest brother Levie Goudeketting. In January 1943 Samuel and his wife were deported and arrived in Auschwitz. His wife survived Auschwitz. She always kept a picture of Samuel (see right) with her all the time. This portrait photo was originally placed in a mirror. Upon arrival in Auschwitz, she cracked the mirror and kept the picture in her clog.
