Heinrich Rosenthal was a son of David Rosenthal and Regine Epstein. He married Sara Citroen on 21 May 1942 in Amsterdam.

Before 1933 Heinrich Rosenthal lived with his parents in Ibbenbüren, Poststraße 10. Heinrich migrated from Germany to the Netherlands on 3 April 1933. His parents followed the day after. He went with his brother Otto Edwald to Chile, but they returned in 1937 because they were homesick. Heinrich Rosenthal was deported with the first train from Westerbork to Auschwitz on 15 July 1942. His sister Ilse was on the same train.
