Gompert van de Kar was a son of David van de Kar and Heintje Schraal, who both have passed away already before the war. He married 21 April 1909 in Amsterdam to Rachel Tas, a daughter of Levie Tas and Saartje Hartog Peper. The couple had two children: Hendrika and Sara, who is mentioned here.
Gompert was born in a family with eleven children, of whom two have died before the war. However his siblings Marianne, Salomon, Clara, Coenraad, Grietje, Sara, Philip and Levie have been killed all during the Holocaust.
