Leendert Schijveschuurder was a son of Mozes Schijveschuurder and Esther Hammelburg. He married 17 June 1912 in Amsterdam to Dientje de Jong, a daughter of Simon de Jong and Sara Prijs. The couple had two children: Esther and Simon.
Dientje de Jong has survived the war but was never remarried since then.
Leendert's father, Mozes, married as the widower of Esther Hammelburg in 1911 to Naatje Gompers, the widow of Abraham Content.
Siblings, who also have been killed during the Holocaust were Abraham, Salomon and Grietje. His sister Rebecca died already in 1908, aged 16.
