Ruben Zwart was a son of Jacob Zwart and Esther Groen. He married 30 September 1908 to Lea Fles, from whom he divorced on 27 January 1910. After more than two years, he married again to Aaltje Blitz, a daughter of Mozes Blitz and Sophia Wagenaar.
Ruben was born in a family with ten siblings, of whom one brother has died in 1899, only 2 years old and one sister, who probably has survived the war. The others, who did not survive the Holocaust were Sara, Roosje, Mozes, Hendrika, Juda, Jetje and Salomon.
