Nathan van Gelder was a son of Salomon van Gelder and Johanna Feitsma. He married 15 November 1916 in Zaandam to Anna Witsenhausen, daughter of Levie Witscnhausen and Vrouwtje Drukker. The couple had one daughter, Johanna, who married in 1941 Meijer Wijnschenk, son of Gerrit Wijnschenk and Betje de Zwarte. Johanna however has survived the Holocaust.
